Meet the Author

I didn’t set out to become an author.
Writing became the place where truth could land when words felt too heavy to speak out loud.

I’m Kaitlyn Kenealy, an internationally award-winning author, licensed psychotherapist, and CEO of Into the Woods Wellness. My work lives at the intersection of trauma, truth, identity, and healing—especially the kind that isn’t neat, linear, or performative.

My debut book, Healing Is Messy AF, was written from the raw middle: a season of grief, loss, and learning how to live inside a body that had been carrying more than it knew how to name. That book gave language to what so many people feel but struggle to articulate—that healing can be complex, nonlinear, and deeply human.

My second book, Unmasking: A Journey Through Trauma, Truth, and a Spectrum of Healing, goes deeper. It’s a coming-of-age story layered with psychoeducation, spirituality, and personal reckoning—a reclamation of voice, identity, and authenticity after years of adapting and self-protection.

As a therapist, I’ve spent years walking alongside people in their most vulnerable moments. As a writer, I believe storytelling is one of our oldest and most powerful forms of healing. My work invites readers to unmask gently, to listen to their nervous systems, and to trust that becoming themselves is not something they need to earn.

This space is for the seekers.
The cycle-breakers.
The ones learning that wholeness doesn’t mean being unscarred—it means being honest.

Welcome. 💛

Purpose

I write because healing doesn’t happen in silence.

My purpose is to tell the truth about trauma, identity, and becoming—without polishing it, minimizing it, or turning it into something it isn’t. Through story and psychoeducation, I create space for people to recognize themselves, regulate their nervous systems, and feel less alone in what they’re carrying.

I believe healing is not about fixing what’s broken, but about listening to what’s been asking for care. My work exists to help readers unmask gently, reconnect with their bodies, and trust their own inner wisdom as they move toward wholeness—on their own terms.
